Friends of Cancer Research (Friends) is seeking an intern to be a part of our fast-paced public affairs team during the summer of 2025.
Friends of Cancer Research (Friends) is accelerating innovation and delivering new therapies to patients quickly and safely by serving as a bridge to empower scientists, developers, advocacy groups, policymakers, and patients.
We believe that through scientific collaboration we can initiate meaningful policy and create solutions for anyone impacted by cancer.
The Public Affairs team is seeking an intern ready to support its communications, marketing, public affairs, and advocacy work. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter that can collaborate effectively within a small but nimble organization. Candidates must be a rising Junior or Senior in undergraduate studies, or a recent graduate, preferably in public health, or public policy related studies.
Although not required, the ideal candidate will have experience around overall duties, which may include:
- Editing and/or drafting public-facing communications (emails, website updates, blog posts).
- Email marketing – drafting external emails and graphics for (press releases, events, publications)
- Assisting with social media campaigns and social listening.
- Proficiency with creative media tools (Canva, PremierePro, iMovie, or CapCut)
- Media monitoring.
- Tracking Congressional issue reports and monitoring organization relevant hearings.
- Event planning and logistics.
- Scheduling meetings
- Registration management and attendee support
- Managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Collecting data to provide support for potential research publications and data-driven blog posts.
This is a great opportunity for a creative, dynamic, and motivated student to learn how a growing non-profit organization functions and gain valuable experience in aspects of health and science policy research, cancer advocacy, and federal government relations.
This position will receive a competitive stipend.
