The Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, or CBER, monitors biological medical products. Where drugs are created through chemical synthesis, biological medical products, or biologics, are created through biological processes. These products include vaccines, human cells, tissues, and cellular and tissue-based products, some medical devices (related to licensed blood and cellular products), and a range of other articles used to diagnose and treat illness. CBER analyzes data from sponsors related to biologics to ensure safety and efficacy of these products.
