Friends of Cancer Research (Friends) is proud to announce a new virtual meeting, 21st Century Cures 2.0 Listening Session: Harnessing the Power of Collaboration. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the signing of the National Cancer Act and the 5th anniversary of the signing of the 21st Century Cures Act. The latter served as the launching point for the Cancer Moonshot creating collaborative partnerships, innovative research projects at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), and the Oncology Center of Excellence (OCE) at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). As congressional policymakers aim to build on that progress, federal leaders and oncology experts will share their vision and priorities for what is needed to accelerate the next generation of cancer therapies.
The virtual meeting will feature a dialogue about the recent 21st Century Cures 2.0 discussion draft, featuring bill co-sponsors Reps. Diana DeGette (D-CO) and Fred Upton (R-MI). The meeting will also outline future priorities in oncology and perspectives from Richard Pazdur, Director of the OCE at FDA, and Ned Sharpless, Director of the NCI.
