Friends Advocacy Initiatives

Quarterly Advocacy Newsletter

Friends of Cancer Research (Friends) powers advances in science and policy that speed life-saving treatments to patients. We power these advances in collaboration with those impacted by cancer by bringing advocates directly into our research and policy initiatives through our Advisory Advocate program and by sharing quarterly advocacy newsletters that support advocate engagement in research and regulatory processes.

Friends Advisory Advocates Program

Friends Advisory Advocates program involves a group of patients, survivors, and caregivers who contribute both their lived experience and informed perspectives to Friends’ scientific, policy, and messaging efforts in cancer research, oncology drug development, and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulatory affairs. Advisory Advocates participate in quarterly meetings to receive updates on Friends’ projects, discuss upcoming activities, and share community needs that may help inform our ongoing regulatory science initiatives. Some also volunteer to participate in project working groups, speak as panelists at Friends’ public meetings, and contribute to project outputs including white papers and publications. Advisory Advocates play a central role in helping ensure patient priorities are accurately reflected in our work.
